Hanging out with people the individual took drugs or alcohol with in the past, times of the day when the individual used to take drugs or alcohol, or being in a certain place that reminds him or her of their substance abuse are all good examples of potential triggers. Emotional problems and stress can also trigger relapse.

Tip #2 – Encourage follow-up treatment or therapy

Addicts who continue treatment through therapy sessions are less likely to relapse. Encouraging follow-up treatment will certainly help with your loved one’s complete addiction recovery. This could be anything from AA meetings to simply talking to a counselor. The right treatment can differ from one person to another, so it is important to determine the most suitable treatment for the individual.
